Baby Evelyn
Donovan here. Rarely does a big event live up to the hype. Think most Super Bowls. Or Clifford's Big Movie. Letdowns, to be sure.
Well, for weeks all we'd been hearing about was this "big trip to Mooma and Doodad's house" to see Baby Evelyn. We'd go to the store and see an infant, and Mom would say, "We're going to see Baby Evelyn soon!" We'd pass a gas station and the conversation would go something like this:
Dad: Man, that trip to Pennsylvania's gonna be tough on the wallet.
Mom: Yeah, but we get to see Baby Evelyn!
Jackson: Can we have some ice cream when we get home!?
Me: ICE MEAM!!!!
Mom: (Attempting to distract me from the ice cream) Donovan, are you excited to see Baby Evelyn?
Me: (Refusing to fall for it and leaning up in my car seat for effect) ICE MEEEEEEAAAAAM!!!!
You get the idea. So I was understandably skeptical about meeting Baby Evelyn. How could she possibly live up to the astronomical expectations?
Well, she's all that and more, as you can see here:

I'm usually a pretty cool customer. Unlike my brother, I have control of my emotions - unless, of course, ice cream is involved. But seeing Baby Evelyn... well, I just had to hold her. And once I got my mitts on her, I didn't want to let go...

Thank you for coming to see Baby Evelyn, and Mummaw and Doodad. We enjoyed having you and your family come to Pennsylvania for a visit. You look like you are having fun holding Evelyn. She is tiny, isn't she! We will see you next month at the beach. I can't wait!
