Water Day
Jackson here. It's hot here in North Carolina during the summer. Surface-of-the-sun hot, even though it's only June. Which means lots of Water Days.
Here's how a Water Day usually goes: 1. We start out doing something chore-like, maybe watering the garden or washing the car, for example. 2. I create a diversion, like asking Donovan if he wants a juice box; when Mom or Dad goes to get it for him, I grab the hose and find the nearest target, like a young fella named Sammy from across the street:

Then I douse everyone else, like Donovan, who smiles because he knows he has been outsmarted and dominated on yet another Water Day:

Then, when an adult braves the gauntlet of water and turns the hose off, I show everyone who's the boss, so they won't forget:

What big muscles you have! Pack the bathing suits for the beach. It will be a good water week! We can't wait!
