Yankees Trivia
Interior Mini-van. Late afternoon. Driving back from errands. Jackson and Donovan in backseat, Mom and Dad in front. Jackson is reading his "Yankees Trivia For Kids" book.
Jackson: (excitedly) Dad, here's something about the Yankees you don't know!
Dad: I don't know, Jackson. I know a lot about the Yankees.
Jackson: Not this! It says here the Yankees were called something else before they were called the Yankees...
Dad (not missing a beat): The Highlanders.
Jackson: Nope. They were called the Hang-Gliders.
Dad: Are you sure about that?
Jackson: Yup. It says they were called that because they played on one of the tallest hills in New York City.
Donovan: Yeah!
Mom: Jackson, do you want to take another look at that word?
Jackson (confidently): Nope. I know I'm right.

Dear Jackson, I think Daddy has you on this one. I checked the Yankees web site that tells all about their history. I did not see hang-gliders as any of their previous names. I think that this concept goes with the parrots and patriots of the Magic Tree House. You can call them that, but it's not really the right thing. I'm still impresses, though, that are are doing such a great job with your reading. Keep up the good work. (and give Daddy a high five for being right, and remembering the nickname for so many years!).

Now, if Grandma could just remember to check her typing before she submits the comment, we'd all be better off! (impressed, not impresses, you are instead of are, are.) Details, details!
